Commissioned by Beatriz Macias for the final concert of the 2026 Tampere Flute Festival - this charming piece is the perfect, sweet little encore for any flute day program.

Fauré’s celebrated little piece was originally a sight-reading test for Paris Conservatoire students - called “Morceau de Lecture” - but it was extended to create “Morceau de Concours” - and has been played non-stop around the world ever since.

In this arrangement - the low flute ensemble provides the perfect, gentle bed for the solo line to luxuriate in!
