A favourite of the flute-playing world. A beautiful, dreamy, exotic opening and a frenetic, energetic, dynamic and exciting second half.

The low flute accompaniment is perfect as it doesn’t interfere with the solo line both in terms of range and colour - the separation the listeners and the players can feel gives warmth and clarity.

It almost certainly needs a conductor - but would be an interesting undirected chamber music prospect for the more adventurous groups!
