An adventure into the world of SWING for Junior Flutists!
This piece was composed for a December 2025 Flute Day in the Northern France town of Fourmis - this presented a play on words to me that was irresistible - especially with the famous Charles Aznavour favourite swing song “Formidable”!
The parts are actively graded so that nobody feels bored, and nobody feels overwhelmed - there’s a little challenge for everyone - and in particular, everyone learns how to swing quavers and sound groovy.
There are opportunities for solos in a middle section where the players can burst out of their “on-the-page” selves and let loose and play something creative and cool!
