gareth mclearnon - flute

cd - sounds of home

Every piece in my book "Round Ireland with a Flute" is featured on this CD, plus seven extra bonus tracks including Hamilton Harty's "In Ireland" and Philippe Barnes' "All Knowing Salmon & Noogleshifty".

I'm expertly, and beautifully accompanied by my good friend Michael McHale on piano, and Satoko Fukuda and Phuong Nguyen join me for Jay Ungar's famous tune "Ashokan Farewell". The whole thing was expertly recorded, engineered, edited, mixed and produced by the magnificently talented Dave Rowell

This CD was made possible through generous support from PSC Northern Ireland (thanks dad!) and Mrs Margretta Simpson (thanks Nanny!)

"...bright and sparkling from both flute & piano with stunning playing from both artists....Gareth's clean, crisp articulation and the fluidity of his technique, combining traditional "folk" methods with modern flute capabilities make this cd exciting listening."

"...a delicious collection of (mostly) traditional Irish music, played with great style, verve and virtuosity. His contemporary arrangements are quite brilliant, and he clearly loves the music of his homeland."
